  Kos Sports                    SPORTS  ON  KOS  ISLAND  
     
      If you love outdoors, and just want to bike or hike, swim or surf, Kos is the perfect spot.  
      The sunny climate and great beaches make it the ideal spot for sports and outdoor activities.  
     
      BEACH ACTIVITIES  
     
      Popular water sports include wind-surfing, sailing, water-skiing, snorkeling and scuba-diving.  
     
      The north-west winds that blow along Kos' west coast create ideal conditions for wind-surfers.  
      There are organized centers at Psalidi, Tigaki and Marmari offering complete training and   
      have a great variety of boards and sails for rent. Kefalos also on the south west part of  
      Kos Island is a very popular place for wind-surfing.  
     
      To be a captain of a sailing boat you don't need to own one. There are boat rentals in Kos   
      town. Kardamena and Kefalos are popular spots for sailing, especially catamaran sailing.  
      The wind conditions at these spots are ideal for newcomers.  
         
      Jet skis are also available to rent. For a more sedate and less salty experience, paddle  
      boats can be rented at beaches with organized facilities. Kos offers also fine diving  
      opportunities. Discover the underwater world of Pserimos with a scuba diving course. A  
      full-day programme for those who have never dived before and would like to try the   
      underwater experience includes a medical check, return boat trip to the dive site, a theory  
      lesson during the trip, practice in shallow water ... and then you dive!   
     
      Dives for any level of certified divers are also available. The diving centers that operate on  
      Kos Island have qualified, professional and friendly instructors, as well as the highest  
      standards of insurance and safety, well-maintained and reliable equipment, and many  
      years of experience. Snorkeling opportunities abound throughout Kos waters.  
     
      Organized centers, where you can rent equipment or have training, operate on most  
      beaches. Try water-skiing, or enjoy a water ride on the "Banana" or "Ringo". There is also  
      para-sailing available, swing under a parachute, 100 feet above the warm sea!   
     
      Rocket bungee jumping is an adrenaline rush. Feel the force as your body free-falls from  
      200 feet on an elastic rope fastened to you. There is one Rocket Bungee center on Kos,  
      operated on Lambi beach.  
     
      LAND ACTIVITIES  
     
      Numerous tennis courts are found in the largest hotels in Kos town as well as resort hotels  
      and apartments around Kos Island.  
     
      The mountain of Dikeos offers you an opportunity for hiking and climbing. From the top of  
      the mountain (846m above the sea) you have a spectacular view over the coastlines towards  
      the neighouring islands.   
     
      Bicycle enthusiasts can enjoy kilometers of riding paths and roads around Kos town and  
      to the villages. For nature lovers there are plenty of quiet roads for jogging.  
     
      Basketball, football and volleyball facilities can be found at the old Antagoras Stadium  
      (Artemissias St. 14). For those looking for beach volleyball, look no further than Lambi   
      beach, one of the most popular of Kos town's beaches, there is a volleyball court on  
      the beach right in front of Club Heaven.  
     
      Why not try go-karting ? Go-karts in Psalidi have all you and your friends need for a   
      unique go-karting experience. Family and group bookings are also available.  
     
      There are also many organised gyms on Kos Island. They feature up-to-date equipment,  
      aerobic classes, saunas, solariums, dietary programmes, beauty therapy, sportswear  
      boutiques and much more.
