Kos Holiday Hints         HEALTHY HOLIDAY  HINTS

Please read the health and safety advise very carefully, along with any safety information
provided at your hotel or apartments. On arrival at your accommodation, familiarize
yourself with any of the emergency exit routes and fire evacuation procedures. Take extra
care with children on stairways and balconies.

      SUN SAFETY

Breezes can be deceptive and the sun is much stronger than you think! Always wear a high
factor sun cream, keep your head covered as much as possible and stay out of the intense
midday sun, seeking shade wherever possible. To avoid becoming dehydrated, make sure
      you drink lots of water.

      SWIMMING POOL SAFETY

Observe a few simple rules so that you can enjoy your time in the pool:

      * Familiarize yourself with the depth markings before entering the pool.

      * Take special care of drainage channels, slippery tiles and raised edges.

      * Only use the pool within specific opening hours. When the pool is closed it is more
likely being cleaned and this usually involves chemicals.

      * Do not swim in the night or if the water is cloudy.

      * Do not swim under the influence of alcohol.

      * Never allow children to use the pool unsupervised.

      * Check the depth of the pool before diving in and never dive in if the depth of the pool is
         less than 4 meters.

      BALCONY SAFETY

Take extra care on balconies, especially at night and under the influence of alcohol. Never
leave children unsupervised or allow them to climb furniture or railings.

      LIFT SAFETY

In the event of fire, lifts must not be used. Smoking inside lifts is also prohibited. Many
lifts in Greece do not have interior doors so please take extra care and stay away from
the moving wall. Children should never use a lift unless accompanied by an adult.

      PERSONAL SAFETY

Although Kos is a safe island avoid carrying large amounts of money and never leave
anything valuable in parked cars. Safety deposit boxes are available in most hotels and
apartments. We recommend that you make use of this facility to secure any valuables
along with any passports, tickets, currency and travellers cheques. Always check that
doors and windows are locked when you leave your accommodation.

      ELECTRICITY

Electrical current in Kos is 220 volts, AC 50 Hz. The Kos three pin power plug is different
from that in some countries so you might need an adaptor. Do not tamper with any
      electrical devices, plugs or sockets.

Hope these Kos holiday hints have helped !
