      The town of Kos was founded in 366 BC and has been ever since the capital of  
      the island of Kos. The capital and main port of Kos, is located at the north-east  
      of the island. The city of Kos was destroyed by a violent earthquake in 1933,   
      the Italian occupation. The Italians reconstructed the capital virtually from the  
      foundations. The town was designed based on Italian models of urban planning.  
     
      Today, seventeen thousand people live in Kos town, a beautiful place, with palm  
      palm trees and colorful flowers. A cosmopolitan town center offering a numerous  
      amount of choices. With a museum, and ancient market, a modern market, and  
      a vast amount of restaurants, tavernas & bars.  
        
      The visitors to Kos island are in for a surprise as there are so many contrasts in Kos'  
      architecture, that it encourages visitors to explore the city step by step in order to
