Kos is
also the birthplace of Hippocrates, the father of
|
|
Medicine.
Hippocrates
was born on Kos in 460 BC.
He |
|
was well
known for his "modern method" of diagnosis and |
|
the
"Doctors Oath" which he wrote is still recited by
students |
|
entering the medical profession. According to
the legend |
|
Hippocrates taught his students under the "Plane
Tree", |
|
which is considered to be the oldest tree in
Europe and |
|
stands at the entrance to the Castle of the
Knights. |
